Dear WISD parents and community members,
In a continuing effort to provide a safe and secure environment for every student and staff member, all WISD campuses are now equipped with the Raptor Visitor Check-in System. This system has already been in place at Weatherford High School and is now being expanded to all other WISD schools. Raptor is a nationally proven system that has been used in numerous school districts throughout Texas and the country. This system allows campus administrators to have a more proactive visitor registration process during the school day. Raptor technology contains multiple methods to assist campus administrators in identifying individuals with a variety of legal issues that may pose a campus concern, including identifying registered sex offenders.
Upon arrival at a WISD campus, all visitors must go directly to the school’s main office and present identification consisting of (1) a current U.S. Driver’s License; or (2) a current State Identification Card; or (3) a US Citizenship/Immigration Green Card; or (4) a current WISD Employee ID Card; or (5) be on the District approved Volunteer List.
In lieu of a driver’s license, an individual presenting a State of Texas identification card identifying the individual as an employee of a law enforcement entity or the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services shall not be required to provide any other form of identification. While on the campus, the individual will display either his or her state-issued identification badge or shall be issued a visitor’s badge to be displayed while the visitor remains on campus.
A person may be placed on the District list of approved volunteers (visitors) for specific campuses by completing a Volunteer Application at the WISD campus that the individual wants to volunteer at or at the District Services Building. Upon receipt of the application at the administration building a criminal history review through the Texas Department of Public Safety will be conducted. If the result of the criminal history review is acceptable by the District, the individual will be placed on the approved volunteer list at the designated District campuses.
This check-in and check-out process is quick and will provide all students, staff, and parents a greater level of comfort knowing a proven system is in place to enhance campus safety. Once the individual has been cleared for visitation a Visitor’s Identification Badge will be issued. This badge must be worn at all times during the visit and must be returned to the main office before leaving the campus.
We appreciate your cooperation with this process. We want our parents and community to feel good about visiting our schools and see the wonderful opportunities we have for our students and the outstanding work they are producing. If you have questions about this system please contact your child’s principal and/or Grant Priess, Executive Director of Operations, Safety & Security:
