From Linda Bagwell
Director, Communications & Public Relations
Nancy McVean, Weatherford College’s long-time drama instructor and director, and Rob Laney, music director, are looking for men and women who can sing and act and are interested in appearing in the College’s fall production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
“The leads, of course, are mostly men, but the women have terrific roles, as well,” McVean said.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying is a musical with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert. It opened on Broadway in 1961, based on Shepherd Mead’s 1952 book of the same name. It was made into a successful movie in 1967.
Auditions are scheduled one evening only for the community: Friday, September 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Alkek Fine Arts Center on WC’s Weatherford campus, 225 College Park. No preparation is necessary, and auditioners should just come prepared to read from a script and to demonstrate acting and singing ability for major characters.
The play was originally presented by Cy Feurer and Ernest H. Martin in association with Frank Productions and presented now through special arrangement with Musical Theater International.
