Each year The American Legion Posts accept nominations from Law Enforcement agencies across Texas for The American Legion, Department of Texas, National Security Commission Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. A few months ago, an officer with the Weatherford Police Department was nominated for the award and was subsequently selected as this year’s recipient. The Weatherford Police Department is proud to announce that Officer Charles Tippie has been chosen as the 2012 recipient of The American Legion Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for the Department of Texas.
This is a very distinguished honor for Officer Tippie. In January 2012, he has formally been invited to Austin for the Opening Session of the Mid-Winter Conference of The American Legion where he will be officially awarded the title by State Commander J.G. Garza.
On Tuesday, 08/09/2011, at 7pm Officer Tippie will be recognized locally at the Parker County American Legion Post 163 located at 703 Eureka St at 7pm. The Weatherford Police Department would like to cordially invite our local media to this event.
Officer Tippie has been with the Weatherford Police Department since September 2009.
“Officer Tippie has proven himself to be a tremendous asset to the police department and our community,” stated Lt Chris Crawford, he continually demonstrates the character traits any agency would like to see in an employee.”
