Ladycats stay unbeated in 6-4A with 3-1 win over Boswell

The state-ranked No. 10 Aledo Ladycats defeated Boswell, 25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 25-16 in a District 6-4A match at the AHS gym.

The win gives the Ladycats a 7-0 district mark, 27-6 overall. The Ladycats will return to league action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, against Mineral Wells.

Aliie Bettinger led the Ladycats with 14 kills, Abby Tomas added 12 stoppers and 3 blocks and Jordan Jacobs finished with 8 kills to go along with a pair of aces. Tara Gough helped the hitters with a match-high 31 assists

Defensively, Addie Mantooth had a match-high 25 digs.

In the opening game, senior hitter Allie Bettinger recorded four kills in the opener, with senior hitter Abby Tomas adding three. Junior setter Tara Gough had seven assists and a kill on a crafty setter tip.

The game-clinching point came on a kill by Mantooth off a cross court set from Tomas.

Both sub-varsity teams defeated Boswell. The junior varsity raised its overall record to 18-4 (7-0 in district) with a 25-19, 25-17 win, while the freshman "A" team (17-2, 7-0) dropped its opener, 25-21, before coming back with wins of 25-15, 25-17 to clinch the match.
