In a specially called Monday morning, the Aledo ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name Dan Manning as Lone Finalist for the position of Superintendent. The Board now has 21 days to finalize a contract. Manning has served the district since 2008 as Executive Director of Administration, and was named the district's Interim Superintendent in May upon the retirement of Don Daniel.
Manning has 27 years’ experience in public education as a teacher, principal, and district-level administrator. He began his career as a teacher in Arlington ISD, later working as a teacher, principal, and Director of Curriculum and Professional Development in Crowley ISD. Manning also served Keller ISD as Executive Director of Intermediate and Middle Schools. His wife Becky is a Gifted-and-Talented teacher in Keller ISD. They have four grown children, two of whom are teachers.
"This is certainly an honor to be selected to lead Aledo ISD. I have tremendous respect for the heritage of excellence established in our schools,” Manning said. “The reputation of quality in Aledo has been well earned through the hard work and dedication of our outstanding board, district leaders, staff and students, matched with the support of our community. I am committed to continuing and raising that standard of excellence so our students will graduate with not only a diploma, but also with exciting options for their futures."
Manning has scheduled some public meetings in the next few weeks as a way to introduce himself in the community and to create a listening forum.
The first meeting is Monday, Aug. 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the Stuard Elementary cafeteria. The second meeting is Monday, Aug. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Daniel Ninth-Grade Campus. Parents, students and community members are encouraged to attend.
