Aledo Youth Football Association hosting Kickoff Golf Classic

Aledo Youth Football Association will hold its inaugural Kickoff Golf Classic, a four-man scramble golf tournament Sunday, Aug. 17, at Split Rail Golf Club.
Cost is $100 per individual and proceeds will go toward scholarships and equipment for the league, and funds raised will be utilized to provide financial assitance for families in need to help offset the cost of league registration fees.
Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. followed by a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Field is limited to the first 124 players.
AYFA is also looking for a title sponsor. Deadline for a title sponsor and other sponsors is Saturday, Aug. 9.
On Saturday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m., there will be a silent auction at Railhead Smokehouse Barbeque restaurant. The event will auction off former Dallas Cowboy linebacker Eugene Lockhart, who will play with the foursome of the auction winners.
Lockhart, nicknamed “The Hitting Machine” in his time in Dallas and at the University of Houston, was an All-Pro in 1989 who led the National Football League with 222 tackles. He is now involved in commercial construction, and is in demand as a motivational speaker.
Lockhart has been associated with Aledo Youth Football Association for the past three years.
“I always have a good time in Aledo,” Lockhart said. “The people are nice and hospitable, and it is a community that comes together for good causes. People in Aledo really reach out and make a difference. Everyone in Aledo and the surrounding area needs to come out to the tournament and help a good cause. So everyone come out and help the Aledo Football Association.”
