The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) recently approved Weatherford College as a qualified provider for its Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program. Upon successful completion of the program students qualify as a TDLR Certified Technician.
“Our program offers classroom theory combined with hands-on experience for the students to gain skills for employment in the field,” said Athena Russell, Workforce and Continuing Education Coordinator.
The College has a 21-month-long evening program and a fast-track day program that completes in approximately eight months. Both programs begin anew in August.
Also this year, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America recognized WC as an approved testing center for the EPA Recovery Certification exam and the HVAC instructors as qualified proctors. Recently nine students passed the exam, eight with Universal classification. This certification is required by Federal law to work in the industry.
Instructors for the program are Jose Jaramillo and John Manley, both licensed professionals in the HVAC field.
“Jaramillo and Manley were instrumental in helping to attain approval for providing the EPA exam and gaining endorsement from TDLR. Combined, they bring 30-plus years of experience to the program,” Russell said.
Workforce and Continuing Education will hold an Information Session on Tuesday, July 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building. Prospective students are invited to attend to find out more about the HVAC program, as well as other training in health care and computer programs available.
Registration for the fall semester begins July 26 at 8 a.m. For more information call 817-598-6302.
