From the Parker County Sheriff's Office

Parker County sheriff’s investigators arrested four people after an investigation of the June 15 escape of Justin Lavon Berry, a Parker County jail trustee who was captured in Kaufman County the night of June 16.

Myranda Lynn Amberson, 20, of Bokchito, Oklahoma was arrested June 20 in Denton County over allegations that she met Berry near Denton shortly after his escape, traveled with him to an area motel where the couple spent the night, and then traveled with him to Scurry in Kaufman County, where she is alleged to have procured money to assist Berry in furthering his escape. Amberson was charged with Hindering Apprehension and was released on $4,000 bail.

Christopher Ross Henderson, 21, of Little Elm, was also arrested June 27 in Denton County. Henderson stands accused of transporting the pair to the Denton motel and paying for the room before giving the couple a ride the following day to Kaufman County, where Berry was subsequently arrested. Henderson was also charged with Hindering Apprehension and was released on $1500 bail.

Cindy Yaws Berry, 41, of Scurry, was arrested June 27 in Denton County on a misdemeanor charge of False Report to Police stemming from allegations that she failed to make truthful disclosures to investigators regarding her communications and knowledge of the suspect and his female acquaintance during the investigation. Berry was released on $500 bail.

Also arrested in the case was Teresa Day Dewberry, 51, of Kaufman who stands accused of providing Berry and Amberson transportation from her home to another family member’s house near the location where Berry was arrested. Dewberry was charged with Hindering Apprehension and released from the Kaufman County Jail on $5,000 bail.

Justin Lavon Berry, the escapee, was transported June 18 to a state jail facility to begin serving an existing two-year sentence for a probation revocation, and is also being held on the Escape charge for which he is expected to stand trial.

Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Arnett said that investigators did identify and question a Weatherford man who they believe provided Berry a ride to Denton the morning after his escape. Arnett said Berry reportedly showed up at the man’s home and investigators do not believe the man was aware that Berry was incarcerated at the time. No charges against the man are expected.
