Big Band PerformanceBig Band Performance

Fans of the “Big Band” era will have an opportunity to hear the hits of such artists as Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and the Dorsey Brothers when the Langdon Center Big Band from Granbury visits the Texas Opry in Weatherford on June 18.
During its five year of existence, the Langdon Center Big Band (LCBB) has put together a show reminiscent of the famous USO Shows of the early forties featuring selections such as “In the Mood,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” “American Patrol,” “String of Pearls” and many others.

The band also has their version of the Andrew Sisters who will perform “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy From Company D,” Chattanooga Choo Choo,” and other great songs from that era. You will also hear vocal favorites sung by Janice Horak and Weatherford’s own Steve Markwardt. A popular duet by these two will be “Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree.” Steve’s version of “Mack the Knife” is a crowd favorite.
During the show veterans and all active military personnel will be honored.

Performance time is 7:30 p.m. on June 18 at the Texas Opry in Weatherford. For more information, visit www.texasoprytheater.com or call 817-341-1000. To reserve seats, visit www.langdonuso.eventbrite.com. All seats are $20 general admission.
