Weatherford College officials and representatives of Wise County government today threw a little Wise County red clay dirt around at groundbreaking ceremonies at the construction site of a new WC campus. Weatherford College Wise County, located between Decatur and Bridgeport, is expected to be completed in time for the fall 2012 semester. The new WC branch campus, made possible by Wise County voter approval of a branch campus maintenance tax in 2009, will have the capability of servicing more than 2,000 students. A new 90,000 square-foot facility and a renovated 18,000 square-foot existing building will include classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, a dining area, library, bookstore, offices and other amenities. The facility will feature architectural metal roofs and a combination of masonry and stone detailing. Parking for 350 cars will be provided on site, as well as geothermal well fields to support a geothermal HVAC system. Pictured, left to right, are Wise County Precinct 2 Commissioner Kevin Burns, in whose precinct the campus is located; WC Board of Trustees Secretary/Treasurer Trey Cobb; WC Board President Frank Martin; WC President Kevin Eaton; Wise County Commissioners Harry Lamance, Precinct 3, and Danny White, Precinct 1, and Wise County Judge Bill McIlhaney.
