Parker County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a theft of property call Thursday in the 16200 block of Old Weatherford Road north of Aledo.
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said an employee of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church reported unknown suspects entered the property and dismantled five of eight commercial air conditioning units on the roof top of the church.
Sheriff’s investigators conducted a crime scene investigation, where it was discovered the suspects used a ladder to climb the building and left a unique bracelet behind on the roof top.
Sheriff’s investigators believe the suspects destroyed the air conditioning units to obtain the copper components within the units and sell them for scrap metal.
“We want the public informed when things like this occur,” Sheriff Fowler said. “We rely on the public’s assistance and cooperation in solving many of our cases. It’s a senseless act and it is beyond comprehension how suspects can commit crimes against a church or synagogue. We are diligently seeking the suspects involved.”
The complainant reported the stolen parts and units which were damaged totaled a value of more than $20,000.
Anyone with information leading to the identification, arrest and indictment of the suspects involved is urged to call the Parker County Sheriff’s Office at (817) 594-8845 or the Parker County Crime Stopper Hotline at (817) 599-5555.
