Four-of-five WISD Title I elementary schools earn 'Distinguished Performance Texas Schools' status

Weatherford ISD has just learned that four of its five Title I elementary campuses were recently recognized as Distinguished Performance Texas Schools.

Crockett Elementary, Curtis Elementary, Ikard Elementary, and Seguin Elementary were part of only 1,129 Distinguished Performance Texas Schools in the state.

The criteria for Distinguished Performance Schools in Texas include: Title I, Part A campus in 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11; maintained a campus residing population of 40 percent or more low-income in 2010-11; met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in 2009 and 2010; achieved a campus rating in Spring 2010 of Exemplary; achieved a campus rating in Spring 2009 of either Exemplary or Recognized; and achieved a campus rating in Spring 2008 of either Exemplary or Recognized.

Wednesday, July 9

  • Three alumni basketball games will be played during the week of the Aledo Cage Camp, which runs Monday through Friday, July 7-11. All games begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Aledo High School gym. On Monday, July 7, Aledo alumni will take on Granbury alumni; on Tuesday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. Aledo Evens will play Aledo Odds (year of graduation); and on Wednesday, July 9 Aledo non-basketball alumni will play Aledo basketball alumni. Admission is $2 for adults $1 for students. Anyone interested in playing should contact Coach Steve Smith at swsmith@aledo.k12.tx.us.
