Members and guests of the Parker County Republican Party will receive an update on the 82nd Regular Session of the Texas Legislature presented by our own Representative Phil King of our 61st District. The meeting will be held Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m. in the Alene Strain Room in Weatherford College Student Center.
He will give us a report on the successes and failures of legislation to come before this session. Issues such as
• Eminent Domain,
• Funding for Education,
• Balancing the budget to cover a shortfall is estimated at $27 billion over the next two fiscal years. This represents the difference between what Texas expects to collect in revenue over the two-year budget period and what it would cost to keep programs operating at current levels.
• Health and human services
• Taxes on Real Estate Transactions
• Redistricting
The list is endless. Representative King has tackled and addressed these issues and many more in a forthright way with transparency and accessibility.
Guests are welcomed, but only the members of the Executive Council of the Parker County Republican Party can vote. (The Executive Council is comprised of Precinct Chairs duly elected by their peers in the last election.)
