Arrest made in injury to a child case

May 20, 2011 by Randy Keck

From the Weatherford Police Dept

On Wednesday, 05/18/2011, at approx 2pm, Weatherford Police officers and investigators were contacted by staff at the Weatherford Regional Medical Center in reference to a one year old child that had been brought into their facility with suspicious injuries. The child apparently suffered injuries to her head and due to the nature of the injury an investigation was initiated by responding officers and investigators. The investigation continued into Thursday, 05/19/2011, when an arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect in the case.

Thursday afternoon, Weatherford investigators arrested Jordan Lindsey Couch (w/f 19yoa of Weatherford) for Injury to a Child w/Intent of Serious Bodily Injury. Couch, who was the girlfriend of the child’s father, was booked into PCSO Jail shortly thereafter. A bond has yet to be set.

The child was treated for the injuries overnight Wednesday and released Thursday morning to her mother and other family members. CPS has been notified of the investigation involving this child.

“It is our duty as a police department to protect small children who are unable to protect themselves,” stated Cpl Wendy Field, “Although this is a very tragic incident, we are grateful that the child is recovering and that this person has been arrested.”

A mugshot of the suspect can be found at
