AHS Ladycats vs. Springtown at Aledo;
Varsity, 6:30 p.m.
JV, 5 p.m.
9th, 5 p.m.
Coming on strong early at the plate and even stronger in the circle, the Aledo Ladycats pounded out eight hits and received another brilliant pitching performance from Kacie Brann on their way to a convincing 7-0 win over Boswell Friday night in a key District 6-4A game at Ladycat Field.
The win lifts AHS to an 8-2 district record and in a first-place tie with Boswell and Birdville. The Ladycats' victory also avenged an earlier loss to Boswell.
Aledo will continue 6-4A play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at home against Azle.
Brann held Boswell to four hits while walking three and striking out nine. The sophomore has started each game during Aledo's seven-game winning streak.
The Ladycats scored four runs in the second inning, added another in the third and closed the scoring with a pair of runs in the fourth.
In the four-run second, junior third baseman Morgan Farley swatted a two-RBI single, junior right fielder Carolyn Clayton drove in a run and Farley scored from third base on a wild pitch.
In the third, junior catcher Shelby Stockard reached base on an error and scored from third on an error.
The Ladycats' two runs in the fourth came when senior second baseman Kendall Kizer drove in Clayton with a double, and Kizer crossed home plate on a single by Stockard.
Boswell took advantage of four Aledo errors and scored 11 runs in the first inning as the Pioneers defeated the Bearcats, 12-0, Friday night in a District 6-4A contest at Bearcat Field.
The loss drops the Bearcats to 7-2.
Aledo will continue district play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at home against Azle.
