Improving by four strokes from their posted score of 351 in the opening round, the Aledo Ladycats golf team finished with a closing-round 347 for a 36-hole total of 698 to win the girls District 6-4A tournament by 91 strokes over second-place Birdville Friday afternoon at Pecan Valley Golf Course in Benbrook.
The victory advances the Ladycats to the regional tournament, which will be Monday and Tuesday, April 19-20, at Bentwood Country Club in San Angelo.
The district's top medalist was Aledo junior Alicia Stacy, who closed with an 80 today after a first-round 84 to finish with a two-day total of 164.
Stacy, along with Aledo sophomore Haley Gann and juniors Jenny France and Chelsea Mercer, earned all-district, first-team status. Gann was second overall medalist with a 175 (87-88), France finished the tournament with a 179 (89-90) and Mercer totaled 180 (91-89).
Earning all-district, second-team honors for the Ladycats was Jesse Bearden with a 196 (95-101).
