Members of the Aledo ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name the Aledo High School Ninth Grade Center in honor of retiring Superintendent Don Daniel. In introducing the subject, School Board President Joe Dearing said there is no better way to honor an educator than to name a school after him.

"Mr. Daniel has served this district well," Dearing said. David Davis made the motion to re-name the ninth-grade center, and the trustees unanimously approved.

In receiving the honor, Daniel said there was no greater honor. Looking back at his youthful aspiration to play baseball, Daniel said it would be like being named MVP of the World Series.

A reception in Daniel's honor is being held today at 4:30 in the Ninth Grade Center Cafeteria.

During the meeting, trustees also hired a new Chief Financial Officer, promoted Middle School Principal Kathy Allen to Executive Director of Curriculum, and hired a new principal for Vandagriff Elementary School.
