Elks defeat Bearcats 13-3 in game one

Burleson led Aledo 5-0 after one inning in the first game of the Area Championship playoff tonight..

Aledo scored a run in the top of the second when Caleb Frysinger drove in Zack Scott to make the score Burleson 5, Aledo 1. The Elks scored two more runs in the bottom of the second. Aledo brought in Andrew Whisnand to pitch. Burleson scored two more, making it 9-1 after two innings.

Aledo added an unearned run in the top of the third, but left the bases loaded. Burleson 9, Aledo 2 in the middle of the third. The Elks added three runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly. After three, Burleson 12, Aledo 2.

In the top of the fifth Matt Bishop hit a home run to lead off the inning, making the score Burleson 12, Aledo 3. Aledo ended the top half of the inning stranding runners at the corners.

Burleson added a run in the bottom of the fifth to end the game at 13-3.

Game two of the series will be played tomorrow (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. in Aledo.
