Ladycats fall 10-0

May 12, 2011 by Randy Keck

Burleson led Aledo 4-0 after one inning in the softball Regional quarterfinal. The runs came on a three-run home run by Burleson pitcher Sam Montes and a two-out RBI double.

Aledo shortstop Lauren Durham was left stranded on third base after the top of the second. The score remained 4-0. Burleson added three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 7-0 lead.

Tori Gore walked to lead off the third, but Burleson's Montes retired the next three batters to leave the score 7-0 in favor of Burleson after the top of the third. Burleson scored three more in the bottom of the third to lead 10-0.

Gore came in to pitch in the bottom of the fourth. She retired the side, but Aledo needed a score in the top of the fifth to stay in the game.

The Ladycats could not get a run across in the fifth, so Burleson won by the ten-run rule. Game two of the series will be Tomorrow (Friday) at 7 p.m. in Aledo.
