Clifton Hughes

Clifton was a longtime resident of Springtown and was a rancher on "the farm" in Agnes. He was known as the "super plumber" at PVI, Industries where he retired in 1982. He began his own business working with comercial boilers and water heaters which continues today.

As a young man, Clifton worked extremely hard to support his family. He met his wife of 54 years, Rheta McAlpine, in Lott in 1951. They were blessed with two sons. The 54 roses on the casket are a symbol of the 54 years of love between Clifton and Rheta.

Clifton was preceded in death by his father and mother; two brothers; and two sisters.

Clifton is survived by his loving wife, Rheta; sons, Doug Hughes and wife, Laura, David Hughes and wife, Sharon, all of Springtown ; three grandchildren, Stacy Hughes of Crowley , Ashle Hughes and Halle Hughes of Springtown; and one great granddaughter, Tavyn Mayes of Crowley; three brothers, Vernon Hughes of Overton, Billy Hughes of Lake Palestine, , and Jerry Hughes of North Carolina; four sisters, Marie Boyd and Abby Carrillo of Henderson, Helen Tiniton of Houston, and Dorothy Freeman of Gladewater; along with numerous other family members.

Clifton was extremely blessed with family who loved him deeply. He will be greatly missed.
