Glasgow appointed new mayor

Marvin Glasgow, former mayor pro tem, was appointed to the position by unanimous vote at a special meeting held Dec. 26.
The mayoral vacancy happened after Linn Wetwiska resigned two weeks ago. Although his resignation was dated Jan. 2, the council voted to accept it effective Dec. 26. Wetwiska left the council due to what he described as a “difference of direction” between himself and the other members.
Councilmember Hale Alderman made a motion to appoint Glasgow as mayor with Councilmember Teresa Welch making the second.
“I thank you for your confidence,” Glasgow said after being appointed and taking the oath of office from city secretary Candy Scott.
