Night at the Pops
The award-winning Aledo High School Wind Ensemble, AHS choir and special guests will present the annual Night at the Pops concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7 and again at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9 in the Aledo High School Auditorium.
“If you are a Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter fan, music from all the movies will be performed,” said Director of Bands Joey Paul. “We will also feature the music of Van Halen, Aerosmith, Queen, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Madonna, Taylor Swift, and Justin Timberlake.”
The award winning colorguard will perform a routine to the famous television theme Hawaii Five-0, and the band will play a new piece that was just published for band called “Angels in the Architecture” and “Lincolnshire Posy” (a piece adapted from folk songs that were collected on a 1905-1906 trip to Lincolnshire, England).
“We will have lights, actors, electronics, video, costumes, and choreography,” Paul said. “This is not your normal or typical concert for band.”
The event is free to the public thanks to sponsorship from Jerry’s Auto Group in Weatherford.
