Willow Park Mayor Linn Wetwiska has abruptly announced his resignation, effective Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Wetwiska was elected mayor last May.
He said differences in opinion between himself and other council members led him to make this decision.
“There are certain members of the city council, they want to go in one direction, and I, as mayor, want to go into a different direction,” he stated. “Consequently, we have reached an impasse. For the good of Willow Park, the city of Willow Park that is, to keep the peace and tranquility of our city, I find it best that I step aside.”
Wetwiska has only been in office since May 21, having run unopposed to replace former Mayor Brad Johnson, who was elected in 2006.
Wetwiska was a former Planning and Zoning Commission member.
