Taste of Parker County set May 19

April 12, 2011 by Anonymous

Event Date:
Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Everyone likes to eat…and there will be something for everyone at the third annual Taste of Parker County, Thursday, May 19, at Jump Xtreme in Weatherford.

The Weatherford College Foundation fundraiser is a food-tasting event featuring some of the area’s best restaurants and caterers providing samples of their top dishes and beverages.

About 330 people attended last year’s event, which featured 20 restaurants, caterers and wineries. Event organizers expect attendees and vendors to increase this year.

As of press time, confirmed vendors for this year’s Taste of Parker County include The Wild Mushroom; Fire Oak Grill; Rosa’s Café; Golden Moon; Chicken Express; Fuzzy’s Taco Shop; Ben E. Keith Beverages; On The Border; Yesterday’s Sandwich Shop; Buffalo Wild Wings; Popcorn Pantry; Crackin’ Bean Coffee; Yogurt Story; Chad’s Pizza and Burgers; Starbucks; Hog’s Heaven Barbeque; Whataburger and City Kitchen. Other vendors also have expressed interest.

“This is one of the most enjoyable events of the year in Parker County,” said Joan Shaw, event chair and WC Foundation Board member. “The food is unbelievable, and it’s a great opportunity to just mingle and visit with your neighbors. Everyone has a great time.”

For the first time, tickets will be available for online purchase at www.tasteofparkercounty.com. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

All proceeds will fund Weatherford College scholarships through the WC Foundation. Current WC scholarship students will also be on hand, volunteering at the event.

Competition will raise the stakes for vendors as they compete for one of several awards, including Best Overall, Best Appetizer, Best Dessert, Best Entrée and Most Unique. Attendees will vote for their favorites to determine the winners.

Jump Xtreme is located at 1819 South Main Street. A parking shuttle will be available in case parking overflows to nearby lots.
In addition to online sales, tickets are available at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, the Weatherford College Institutional Advancement Office, or from any WC Foundation Board member.

The event will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.tasteofparkercounty.com, call 817-598-6275 or e-mail bbaker@wc.edu.
