Edward J. TherensEdward J. Therens
Edward John Therens was born May 19, 1924, in White Lake, S.D., son of the late Peter and Barbe Schon Therens. He was married to Janet Louis Wilson for 60 years and lived in Weatherford for 47 years.
He loved his family, he was a gentle man. He loved tinkering around his shed and building things. Loved to swim and tend to his garden.
If you knew "Ranger Ed" at all you knew his second love after his family was his time he served in the Army's Military Police, Artillery, Airborne, Ranger, and as a Green Beret in the Special Forces. The man loved to talk about his time in the Army and serving two years in the Korean Conflict. How he couldn't be more proud of serving his country, being from a family of German immigrants. He was also Postal Inspector for the U.S. Government for 25 years. He also sold real estate here in Parker County for Red Carpet Real Estate for 15 years while raising six kids and put himself through college getting two degrees with only an eighth grade education. He will be truly missed and we all have a "New Guardian Angel" that is wearing combat boots.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Therens and Barbe Therens of Stickney, S.D.; three brothers, Nicholas Therens of South Dakota, Pete Therens of Spokane, Wash., and John Therens of Florida; and a son, Bruce Therens of Weatherford.
