WISD Elementary Schools Celebrate 107th Birthday of Dr. Seuss

March 4, 2011 by Anonymous

Several elementary campuses throughout Weatherford ISD celebrated the 107th birthday of Dr. Seuss. Although Dr. Seuss passed away in 1991, his name remains an icon for children throughout the world.

WISD students took part in "Read Across America," which was sponsored by Random House and the National Education Association (NEA). Dr. Seuss once stated, "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."

Dr. Seuss epitomizes a love of children and learning. Also, his use of rhyme makes his books an effective tool for teaching young children the basic skills they need to be successful.Curtis Elementary: Curtis Elementary second grade students display their Dr. Seuss cover art (courtesy photo).Curtis Elementary: Curtis Elementary second grade students display their Dr. Seuss cover art (courtesy photo).Martin Kindergartners: Mary Martin kindergartners enjoy green eggs and ham (courtesy photo).Martin Kindergartners: Mary Martin kindergartners enjoy green eggs and ham (courtesy photo).
