Weatherford Police Make Arrests in SuperSave Robbery
On Friday, 02/04/2011, shortly after 11:00pm, Weatherford Police Officers were dispatched to an aggravated robbery at SuperSave, located at 102 College Park Dr. The information that was reported was that a tall, white male in his late 20’s or early 30’s wearing dark pants and a long, dark jacket had entered the store with an unknown type rifle and took an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect was then seen leaving on foot south from the store’s location.
An officer in the area located a suspicious vehicle, described as a silver passenger car occupied by two individuals, leaving a parking lot just south of the SuperSave store just minutes after the aggravated robbery. The officer observed the suspicious vehicle leave north on S Main St. The same suspicious vehicle, now identified as a silver Pontiac passenger car, was located a short time later at the 500blk of E Park Ave at which point it evaded the officer’s attempt to stop it and crashed into a telephone pole at the intersection of Sante Fe Dr and Fort Worth Hwy. Two suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Weatherford officers established a perimeter and followed tracks in the snow, however, were not successful in locating the suspects at that time.
Officers then began to process the suspect vehicle and through evidence discovered inside, were able to determine that it was the vehicle involved in the aggravated robbery. Additional evidence located in the vehicle led investigators to identify two suspects involved in the armed robbery. One, identified as Keith Jackson (B/M 54yoa of Weatherford), was located at a residence on Remington Cir. He was taken into custody, treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the vehicle crash, then transported to PCSO Jail where he was booked in. The second suspect, identified as Jay D Ellington (W/M 20yoa of Weatherford), was located a short time later at a residence on Linville Ln and taken into custody.
Both suspects are being charged with Aggravated Robbery (1st Degree Felony). Additional charges could follow at a later time.
Officers who reported to the crime scene found that two victims in the aggravated robbery were held at gun point and forced to give the suspect an undetermined amount of cash from the store. They were then bound by duct tape and left in the manager’s office while the white male suspect fled. Neither victim reported any injuries at this time.
Mugshots of the suspects are attached. If for some reason they do not come through, you can locate their mugshots at www.parkercountytx.com.
