February 4, 2011 by Steve Keck

The undefeated, indisputable, Class 4-A State Champion Aledo Bearcats are adding more individual honors to their cache of team awards. Making the prestigious Texas Sports Writer’s Class 4-A All-State Team is still the benchmark for any Texas football player.

This year, junior Johnathan Gray was named Offensive Player of the year in Class 4-A by the sports writers. Gray was also First Team All-State at running back. A complete list of Johnathan’s awards will be printed in The Community News.

Rylan Riney was named First Team All-State Defensive Back by the Sports writers. Riney was a three-year starter in the secondary for the back-to-back state champions.

The Bearcats placed five players on Second Team All-State. Junior offensive lineman Michael Wilson. Junior signal caller Matt Bishop was Second Team All-State. Only one quarterback is picked for first and second team All-State. Senior Tight End Justin Breshears made All-State second team. On the defensive side of the ball, senior Cameron Cunningham was selected as a defensive back. Senior Captain and center Garrett Young was also named to the second team.
