Both varsity basketball programs swept their opponents for the fourth straight time. Two were on the road and two were at home. The latest sweep was against the Springtown Porcupines in front of a capacity crowd at Aledo High School gym.
The Ladycats (25-2, 11-0) clinched the District 5-4A championship with a steady performance from start to finish beating Springtown 53-42. Logan Mittie and Mallory Powell were the leading Ladycats with 18 points each. The victory against the second place Porcupines clinched the district with an 11-0 record and three games remaining.
The Bearcats won their fourth in a row 64-44 over Springtown. It was the most convincing win of the year for Aledo. The victory broke a tie for the fourth playoff spot with the Porcupines. Combined with a Birdville loss to Azle, the Bearcats are now alone in third place in District 5-4A with a 5-4 record.

The Aledo Boys 9th Grade A Team defeated Springtown 85-25. They improved their record to 15-11 overall and 6-3 in district play.
