In an effort to create voter interest and help those going to the polls on Election Day (May 12) or during the early voting period (Apr. 30-May 8) be more informed about their choices, The Community News has published a question and answer session with each candidate in contested races for the upcoming election.
The candidates’ answers are their own words, left largely unchanged aside from some minor editing. We hope you find this helpful when it comes time to fill out that ballot. Aledo Independent School District Board of Trustees Place 4 (Emmett "Buddy" Boyles and Janis Miller), Hudson Oaks City Council Place 5 (Gary Molenburg and Paula Wigley) and Willow Park City Council Place 1 (Gary Cummings and Barry Tatum) are the only contested races.
There will also be a state constitutional amendment on the ballot that would provide for a reduction of the limitation on the total amount of property taxes that may be imposed by public schools on the properties of the elderly or disabled to reflect any reduction in the rate of those taxes for the 2006 and 2007 tax years.

Remember, Election Day is Saturday, May 12. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Voters in Aledo Independent School District can only vote at Aledo High School on Election Day. Residents of Weatherford Independent School District will only be allowed to vote at the Parker County Courthouse Annex on 1112 Santa Fe Drive on Election Day.
Early voting will be conducted through this Tuesday, May 8 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Voters can go to any early voting site to cast their ballot. On Election Day, voters will have to go to their assigned polling place. Early voting locations include the Willow Park Municipal Building at 516 Ranch House Road, the Aledo ISD Administration Building at 1008 Bailey Ranch Road and the County Courthouse Annex.
