Capt. Robert Wood to address Bush Legacy Republican Women

Speaker is Deputy Commander of Navy Reserve Intelligence at the Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth

Capt. Robert A. WoodCapt. Robert A. WoodCaptain Robert A. Wood, Deputy Commander of Navy Reserve Intelligence at the Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, will be the speaker at Bush Legacy Republican Party Meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 at the Doss Heritage Center in Weatherford.
Wood is a native of Valdosta, Georgia, and a graduate of Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado, California State University at Sacramento, the U.S. Naval War College, College of Continuing Education, and the National Defense University - Industrial College of the Armed Forces (Class of 2004). He was commissioned in 1980, and has more than eight years of prior enlisted service in both the Air Force and Navy.

Wood has had assignments in support of Fleet Intelligence Center Pacific, two tours as a Squadron Intelligence Officer in A-7 Corsair II squadrons at NAS Alameda and NAS Atlanta, and extended temporary duty in support of counter-narcotics operations at Joint Task Force Five, Coast Guard Island, California, and Joint Task Force Four, NAS Key West, Florida.

Immediately following acceptance to the Training and Administration of Reserves (TAR) Intelligence Officer program in 1990, Wood served as Reserve Intelligence Program Officer - Area 2, at NAS Alameda. He has had two deployments to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf, one as Assistant CVIC Officer aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) and the other as CVIC Officer aboard USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63).

Captain Wood has also been assigned as Assistant Force Intelligence Officer and Intelligence Reserve Liaison Officer for Commander, Naval Air Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet at NAS North Island, as the Attaché Placement Officer and TAR Intelligence Officer Detailer, Navy Personnel Command at NSA Mid-South, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence for Commander Naval Reserve Forces Command in New Orleans. In July 2004, Captain Wood assumed the duties of Deputy Commander, Navy Reserve Intelligence Command at NAS/JRB Ft Worth.

Captain Wood has participated in Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operation Provide Hope in Somalia, Operation Desert Storm and Operation Southern Watch in the Arabian Gulf, and in Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Captain Wood’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Air Force Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 awards), Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Navy Battle “E” (3 awards), Air Force Good Conduct Medal (2 awards), National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal (2 awards), Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 awards), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2 awards), Reserve Sea Service Ribbon (2 awards), Special Operations Service Ribbon, Reserve Armed Forces Medal (2 awards), Kuwaiti Liberation Medal – Kuwait, Expert Rifle Medal, and Pistol Ribbon.
