AHS Ladycats vs. Springtown at Aledo;
Varsity, 6:30 p.m.
JV, 5 p.m.
9th, 5 p.m.
Aledo shortstop Hayden Hall bounced a ground ball to second base in the bottom of the seventh inning that drove home Sean O'Donnell with the winning run to lift the Bearcats to an 8-7 victory over Crowley Thursday night at the Jerry Durant Classic at Bearcat Field.
The win evens the Bearcats' record to 1-1. Earlier Thursday afternoon, Sherman handed Aledo a 7-2 defeat.
The Bearcats will continue tournament play tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 26) at noon against South Grand Prairie and at 5 p.m. against North Crowley. Both contests will be played at Bearcat Field.
Hall's RBI completed a five-run seventh inning that brought AHS back from a four-run deficit.
With Aledo trailing 7-3, right-fielder Nils Smith and designated hitter Blake Dietrich each walked to begin the bottom of the seventh frame.
After Crowley forced an infield fly for an out, third baseman Zach Scott followed with a single to right field which drove in Smith and cut the Eagles' lead to 7-4.
Second baseman Matt Bishop worked a walk on a 3-2 count to load the bases, and O'Donnell followed with a line-drive single to left field that plated Rinker and Scott to cut the Crowley lead to 7-6.
The next batter, pinch hitter Andrew Tort, drew a walk to load the bases. Centerfielder Rylan Riney followed with an infield single to drive in Bishop to tie the contest, 7-7.
That set the stage for Hall to drive in the game-winning run on the fielder's choice ground out.
