Weatherford College officials release statement on Virginia Tech massacreMessage from the President of Weatherford College, We join the nation in mourning in the aftermath of the tragedy at Virginia Tech Monday. We extend our sympathy to their entire university community and, especially, to the victims themselves, and we offer our most sincere condolences to the families of those lost and injured. As college and university colleagues – and, most importantly, as human beings - we share in their grief and despair. Our shock and disbelief that such a horrible incident could happen on a university campus naturally brings to the forefront thoughts of our own College community and its safety and security. I would reassure the Weatherford College students and employees and all the families, friends and associates they represent, as well as the city of Weatherford and the surrounding counties we serve, that safety and security are of utmost priority at WC. Certainly, we have safety and security procedures in place; however, the recent incident gives reason for us to review those and make any needed improvements to ensure the protection and safety of all who enter onto our campus. We stand ready to assist our colleagues at Virginia Tech in any way we can and extend that offer to members of our own College community, as well, as we all seek to understand this terrible tragedy and move forward.
