Parker County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting call on New Year’s Day.
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the 28-year-old male victim appeared to have suffered from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the center of his left hand with a .9 mm handgun at about 2 a.m.
Witnesses told deputies the victim dropped the magazine from the pistol and was attempting to clear a round from the chamber when he accidentally shot himself.
A physical altercation erupted between two additional men pertaining to the shooting and one man was arrested for assaulting a male family member at the same location in the 800 block of Old Garner Road.
The suspect, identified as Jacob Tyler Beiersdorf, 23, of Weatherford, was charged with assault, causing bodily injury, family violence and was taken to the Parker County Jail. Beiersdorf posted bond in the amount of $2,500, and was released later that same day.
The victim was transported by ground ambulance to a Fort Worth hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
