Rusty Gene Arnold, 32, of Springtown, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 surrounded by his family and friends. Services will be held ThursdayRusty Arnold December 30, 2010 at the Springtown High School football stadium. Rusty was born June 4, 1978 to Stan and Lou Ann Arnold of Stephenville, Texas. Rusty was very active in Boy Scouts and achieved the Eagle Scout ranking in 1993. He graduated Stephenville High School in 1996, attended Tarleton State University from 1996-1997, and graduated from the Weather College Police Academy in 2000. Rusty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stephenville and the Springtown Eureka Lodge #371 A.F. & A.M.
Rusty served in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Sergeant in the Military Police Corps. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was awarded the Army Accommodation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device for mobilization, the National Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officers Development Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon. Rusty was well respected by his peers and was described by his Company Commander as a dedicated professional soldier.
After returning from Iraq, Rusty attained the rank of Sergeant with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office in the Patrol Division and most recently the Criminal Investigations Division. Rusty never met a stranger and was well respected within the department and the community.
Rusty was a great father and husband. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family and friends. He had a great passion for running and cycling. He completed several marathons and long distance cycling events. He was a friend to many and always willing to help. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Rusty was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Ray Sowers.
Rusty is survived by his wife, Kelsey and young son, of Springtown, his parents Stan and Lou Ann Arnold of Stephenville, his sister Amy Arnold of Fort Worth, maternal grandmother Jean Dodge of Cleburne, paternal grandparents Bennie and Bobbie Arnold of Stephenville, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
