The crowd of 27,330 attending the game at Cowboys Stadium tonight knew magic was in the air from the opening kick-off in tonight's 4A Division II State Championship bout. It was an offensive explosion unlike anything I have seen as the teams combined for 1,151 yards and 103 points. Aledo did pull away in the 2nd half as the defense made big plays and the offense never stopped scoring. Rob Blowers won the Defensive MVP award as he came up huge with an INT and fumble recovery, and Johnathan Gray stole the show as your offensive MVP. He finished the day with 28 carries for 325 yards and 8 touchdowns. Aledo scored 10 touchdowns total on the day, as Michael Mann hauled in the other 2 non-Gray TDs. Mann finished the day with 5 catches for 129 yards. Credit La Marque for a terrific game and season. The Cougars return a lot of seniors next year, and I would not be surprised if we see these two teams in this game next season. After his 8 TD performance, Johnathan Gray ends the year with 59 rushing TDs, which breaks Kenneth Hall's single season Texas High School state record. A big shout out goes to the Bearcat nation, as the town traveled extremely well to represent the Aledo football team. Let the celebration begin!

End of Game Notes:
-Aledo's championship is their 2nd consecutive and 3rd in school history. The other championship was won in 1998 in the 3A division.
-Gray's 59 TDs are an all-time rushing record, breaking Kenneth Hall's record of 57 that he set as a Sugarland back in 1953.
-Aledo's 69 points tie a record for most points scored in an 11-man Texas state championship game.
-This win give Aledo 30 consecutive wins in a row.
