Area native and Parker County NAACP President Jeff Brazzell will speak on “Growing Up in Annetta” at the next meeting of the East Parker County Genealogy and Historical Society at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Willow Park Community Center. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
The Weatherford/Parker County NAACP will hold its 20th Annual MLK, Jr. Day Celebration at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 2:00pm at Shirley Hall Middle School, 902 Charles St. At 5:30 p.m. will be The Annual MLK Coloring Contest, Essay, & Artistic Expression awards ceremony, followed by The Annual 10-entry Parker County has Talent Show. This annual event is free and open to the public.

The Weatherford/Parker County Branch NAACP will conduct its monthly General Membership Meeting from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 9 at the New Hope Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located at 107 South Bowie Dr. The meeting will discuss the 20th Anniversary Freedom Fund Banquet. BurnsThe Weatherford/Parker County NAACP will hold its 19th Annual MLK, Jr. Day Celebration at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17 at Shirley Hall Middle School, 902 Charles St in Weatherford. This year’s panel speakers will be Lieutenant Charles Epperson of the Dallas Police Department, Chief Eddie Burns of the Dallas Fire Department, Tonya Veasey, President of Open Channels Group, and Charles Boswell, District Manager of the Office of Senator Wendy Davis. The day’s events will close at 5:30 p.m. with the MLK awards ceremony and talent show. This annual event is free and open to the public.
