The city of Millsap, located on the west side of Parker County, began as a bustling business center at the intersection of the rail line and the United States’ first transcontinental highway. As the highway was updated and businesses began to move elsewhere during the 1930s, commerce began to die down and the city began to dwindle to become the small town we see today.
Throughout the years, however, Millsap has been able to retain its rural atmosphere and honor its town history through the original cabin and post office that proudly stand in Heritage Park in the center of town and the railroad tracks that still remain to commemorate its beginnings.
In addition to retaining its historical significance, Millsap has also built a well-respected independent school district that serves as the “cornerstone of the community.” Located 15 miles west of Weatherford and nine miles east of Mineral Wells, Millsap ISD is a convenient 45 minutes from Fort Worth and has approximately 1,000 students. The schools seek to “inspire, develop, and educate every student in a safe environment to be a productive, responsible citizen prepared for lifelong success.” With its above-average test scores, AP classes, partnership with Weatherford College that allows students to obtain college credit while still in high school, and plethora of other opportunities available for students to take advantage of, the district partners with the younger generation to empower them and help them achieve their dreams through a solid education.
