Bearcats win season opener in dramatic fashion!

August 29, 2014 by bearcat4life

The 2014-2015 Aledo Bearcat football season opened at the McLane Stadium in Waco, TX. tonight .It was a matchup of the last 2 Class 4A state champions. The Aledo Bearcats are the defending champions and the Cedar Park Timberwolves won their state championship in 2012.
The first quarter was not your typical performance that we have come to know from the Bearcats.
Cedar Park was not intimidated at all by the Aledo mystique and out played the Bearcats on both sides of the ball.

Cedar Park scored the first points of the game with an 18 yard field goal on their second possession of the game. That was the first time in 16 games Aledo was behind in a game. Cedar Park scored again on a 61 yard pass to make the score 10-0 after one.

Coach Wood and his staff made some adjustments and Aledo held Cedar Park scoreless in the second. Aledo scored on a 27 yard pass from Bishop to Newsome and trailed 10-7 at halftime.

Cedar Park scored early in the 3rd with a 66 yard touchdown run but Aledo answered with a 34 yard touchdown pass from Bishop to Newsome. The scored stayed Cedar Park 17 and Aledo 14 all the way to the 1:09 mark of the 4th when Bishop found a wide open Jess Anders on a 34 yard touchdown pass.

Aledo put the clamps on defense and Cedar Park’s last pass of the game went out of the back of the end zone with no time left.
It was an incredible way for Coach Wood to debut as the Bearcat head coach.

Way to go Bearcats!!
