Spring city/school elections set

The Aledo City Council and School Board will hold elections in May.
Candidate filing deadline passed Friday, and contested races have developed for four of the five positions.
Both Aledo School Board positions are contested.
Place 6 has two candidates as Farida Goderya faces incumbent David Davis.
Place 7 includes Riley Morrison and Debra Rogers as well as incumbent Hoyt Harris.
Two council positions will be contested, though Mayor Kit Marshall drew no opposition.
For Place 2 George “Pres” McGee faces incumbent Jean Bailey. In Place 4 Mark Siegmund faces incumbent Kim Hiebert.
Also on the May 10 ballot will be the proposition to allow the sale of beer and wine in convenience and grocery stores and the sale of beer, wine and mixed drinks in restaurants.
