From the Parker County Sheriff's Dept
A Weatherford man is in custody following a weekend disturbance which stemmed into a person with a weapon call.
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said deputies responded to the call in the 2100 block of Annetta Center Point Road just before 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.
A male victim reported the suspect, later identified as Ricky Lee Newton, 53, ran his 21-year-old son off the road during a vehicle incident.
The father of the victim stated he went down the street to speak with the suspect about the incident and an argument ensued.
The father further reported Newton then pulled a handgun from his waistband and directed it toward him threatening to “kill” him, additionally pointing the weapon at his wife and son. The wife dialed 9-1-1.
The victims reported Newton additionally threatened to kill the wife and son if they did not “call off the police.”
The victims were able to flee the scene in their vehicle.
Newton was later arrested by deputies at his residence and booked into the jail at 8:35 p.m. Sunday.
Newton was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. As of Monday morning, he remained incarcerated. His bond has not been set.
