Singing Men of Texas

The Weatherford Chamber will host the fifth annual “Art in Action” art show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 16to at the Weatherford Farmer’s Market, 217 Fort Worth Hwy. in Weatherford.
The chamber invites those with creative abilities to participate and those that just enjoy good art to watch artists at work. Many of the artists will have their works of art for sale.
There will also be a children’s area where for $10 they can paint their own shirt and do their work on paper at an easel.

East Parker County Day at the Capitol
The East Parker County Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee will host East Parker County Day at the Texas State Capitol at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 21. A delegation of Chamber members will engage in an open dialogue with legislators to discuss issues affecting the local businesses and community.
Attendees will hear updates on state and federal policy and learn about topics that impact our community such as education, healthcare, and transportation.
Individuals interested in attending will meet at the Texas State Capitol in Austin at 1100 Congress Avenue from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the House Members Lounge (lunch included for $15 pre-registration).
An optional Dutch Treat dinner with State Representative Phil King and Senator Pat Fallon is planned for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, 6319 N Interstate Hwy 35, which is near the hotel where the chamber has a room block: Crowne Plaza Austin. Rooms are $119 plus tax, and the cutoff date for registrations is Feb. 25.

March for Meals
The Parker County Committee on Aging will host its third annual March for Meals 5K walk and community event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Weatherford Senior Center, 1225 Holland Lake Dr.
The event is part of a month-long nationwide celebration of Meals on Wheels and senior neighbors who rely on this vital service to remain healthy and independent at home.
“The services we provide through Meals on Wheels are so important to our seniors in Parker County,” said Shelly Mowery, Executive Director of Parker County Committee on Aging, Inc. “The March for Meals event is a great way to raise funds and awareness to help our seniors most in need.”
Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. Following the 5K, there will be a community festival with food trucks, live entertainment, a Doggie Fashion Show, exhibits, and more.

The Alzheimer’s Association – North Central Texas Chapter will host its 16th annual spring symposium, “Dementia: Current Trends and Future Directions,” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28 at Esports Stadium Arlington and Expo Center (formerly known as the Arlington Convention Center).
Registration fees are $75 for professionals. Light breakfast and lunch will be provided. There is no charge for people living with dementia and care partners to attend. A suggested donation of $25 is appreciated to cover the costs.
