Senior Wellness Expo
April 21 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pmFree
The Parker County Committee on Aging, Inc., will hold a Senior Wellness Expo and Volunteer Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at the Weatherford Senior Center, 1225 Holland Lake Drive.
The Expo will give seniors and their families the opportunity to learn more about services available that can help improve their bodies and minds. Local business and service providers from Parker County will provide information, demonstrations, health tests and more!
One of the organizers of the event with PCCOA is Megan Hamilton, instructor of chair yoga classes held twice a week at the Senior Center. Megan is an RYT certified yoga instructor and is certified in Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors by Duke University. Hamilton will offer demonstrations on chair yoga and also provide a class on fall prevention. According to the National Council on Aging, falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injuries for people aged 65-plus.
The Expo will also feature blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, a fitness class, information on the Parker County Meals on Wheels program, nutrition information, hearing aid help, a music therapy presentation, educational information on Medicare A & B, and more.
The day is also an opportunity for PCCOA to celebrate its more than 150 volunteers who are crucial to the success of the Parker County Meals on Wheels program and the activities at the Senior Center.
The Expo is free but attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable and unexpired food item to contribute toward PCCOA’s Senior Food Bank.
