Save the rain for a sunny day
March 8 @ 6:30 pm
It’s finally raining, but wouldn’t you like to capture some of that bounty for use when hot, dry weather returns? Learn all about “Rainwater Harvesting” when the Cross Timbers Chapter of the Native Plant Society meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Cherry Park Community Center, 313 W. Davis St. in Weatherford.
The program will be presented by Jacob Shaffer, an advocate for harvesting or saving rainfall who works for the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s office in Weatherford. He has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture systems management from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in agronomy. Shaffer also practices what he preaches — he collects thousands of gallons of rainwater from his barn and other roofed buildings.
The Cross Timbers Chapter’s monthly business meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. The program will begin at 7 p.m. The public is always welcome and light refreshments will be available.
The mission of the Cross Timbers Chapter is to promote the conservation, research and use of native plants and plant habitats in Texas through education, outreach and example. For more information visit http://npsot.org/CrossTimbers.
