Christmas on the Square
December 3, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Christmas time returns to Weatherford from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 in the historic downtown area.
Festivities kick off with the annual Christmas Parade at 10 a.m., which starts on South Main St. at the Weatherford ISD Ninth Grade Center. The parade will make its way north on Main St., wind around the courthouse on the square, head west on Palo Pinto and then pass by Cherry Park.
Tammy Gozzola from the Weatherford Chamber said there would be shopping and special treats available in the downtown area stores.
“Come enjoy the small town charm of Weatherford and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the season,” she said.
Gozzola said the treats will include hot chocolate, cupcakes, cookies and candy canes. She also said many of the vendors will offer special prices and sales to allow patrons to get a jump on their holiday shopping.
As always, the event will offer a multitude of activities for children, including mini-train rides, inflatables, and roaming Christmas characters in the dedicated children’s area at the corner of Dallas Ave. and York Ave.
The downtown merchants will also join in the spirit of the day with Cowboy Santa at Peacock Feed and Mrs. Claus at Short Chef Bistro. The Texas Opry will by featured a special show at 4 p.m. with Vince Vance and the Valiants.
Admission and parking for the event are free. For more information, call 817-596-3801 or visit www.weatherford-chamber.com.
