Art reception to introduce public to budding artists
April 10, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Artwork by Weatherford College students is once again lining the walls of Texas Hall in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. To celebrate the artistic endeavors of these students, a reception is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 10.
The display will include paintings, drawings, sculpture and thrown pots in a variety of media including ebony, charcoal, scratchboard, acrylic, oil, watercolor, colored pencil, clay, copper and mixed media. Artwork is available for exhibition and for sale.
“Both Avery Kelly (adjunct painting instructor) and I are excited about exceptional group of students who have produced unique and exciting works,” said Myrlan Coleman, Director of Visual Arts. “Each student seems to work in their own individual style and technique and yet they all appear to be excited about learning to try new things. They are looking forward to having the opportunity to exhibit their talents and skills.”
WC art students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, cultures and hometowns. Students range from those who intend to pursue art as a career to those who are taking art for cultural enrichment.
The art show runs April 5-30 with the reception serving as a highlight of event as students are able to meet with the public. The art show and reception are both free.
