April Pool’s Day
April 23, 2016 @ 10:00 am
Local organizations will bring “April Pools Day” to families in Parker County from 10 a.m.to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at Heritage Park, 315 Santa Fe Drive in Weatherford.
The event will feature water safety demonstrations, information booths, games, giveaways and additional activities.
Kathryn Lammers, Owner of Swim Lesson People and Water Safety Chair for Safe Kids Tarrant County said April Pool’s Day is a significant educational initiative that is being implemented after North Texas experienced an overwhelming number of drowning incidents last year.
“Together, with the support of community leaders, we hope to clarify the potential dangers, reduce the risk of incidents and keep families water-safe and sound,” Lammers said. “Swim safety is a huge concern for families in the Parker County area. With a focus on health, wellness, education and safety, this event is a perfect complement to the mission of Safe Kids.”
“April Pool’s Day,” recognized by aquatic organizations and health providers across the nation, is designed to teach families about water safety, raise awareness of the hazards associated with water, and prevent drowning in pools, bathtubs and all bodies of water.
Seminars and demonstrations led by local organization representatives will include how to properly wear a life jacket, information on first aid and CPR, and the best ways to watch children near water.
In addition to water safety stations, “April Pool’s Day Parker County” will have various activities for children including bounce houses, water slide, face painting, coloring, various safety stations, games and prizes.
