King to host town hall

August 14, 2014 by Phil Major

Event Date:
Tue, 09/09/2014 - 6:00pm

State Rep. Phil King of Weatherford will host a Town Hall to discuss important water and transportation issues facing Texas. Featured guests will include Director Kathleen Jackson of the Texas Water Development Board and Commissioner Victor Vandergriff from the Texas Department of Transportation.
It will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, 6-8 p.m. at Weatherford College Wise County Campus Lecture Hall.
Jackson will discuss the role of the Texas Water Development Board and the need to develop a wide range of solutions, promising technologies and collaborative partnerships to meet current and future water needs. These ongoing efforts help ensure Texas maintains a healthy and vibrant economy. TWDB is actively engaged in a new level of public and community outreach across the state to address the common goal, which is to develop water for Texas. Jackson will highlight policies and procedures that have changed at the agency since the passage of House Bill 4 and will provide an update on implementing the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas.
Vandergriff is a member of the Texas Transportation Commission, which oversees statewide activities of the Texas Dept. of Transportation. He was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry March 26, 2013, and took his seat on the commission April 30, 2013.
Vandergriff is an attorney and private businessman specializing in business development and legislative issues.
From 2009 to 2013, Vandergriff served as the chairman of the Texas Dept. of Motor Vehicles Board. He was also a board member for the North Texas Tollway Authority from 2007-2013 and served as chairman from 2010-2011.
