Benefit Concert

November 7, 2012 by Anonymous

Event Date:
Sat, 11/10/2012 - 7:00pm

A cancer benefit concert will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Craig’s Music Store. Students from the Childbloom guitar program guitar ensemble will perform a fundraising concert for Cancer Assistance Fund of North Texas (CAFNT). CAFNT is a 501 (c) (3) operated and funded 100 percent by volunteers and provides support to those in need of counseling, financial assistance, cancer screening and other cancer related issues.
When asked why he chose CAFNT as a beneficiary for the concert Kevin Townson, Director of Childbloom, says “I myself am a cancer survivor and have been cancer free since 2004.” Kevin goes on to say, “I found that going through the whole process of surgeries and treatments for this awful disease can be not only emotionally challenging but financially devastating. At that time I was fortunate enough to have had great health insurance and a wonderful community surrounding me.” Kevin continues by saying, “during my ordeal I came into contact with those who unfortunately did not have the resources. That is the main reason I chose CAFNT to partner with. Hopefully it will help ease the burden for those who are going through this.”
About the performance Kevin says, “This is a select group of students which feature a very high degree of technical, musical and performance skills.” The group is called The Bella Corda Guitar Ensemble and as Kevin points out, “the group name translates to beautiful chords (or harmony).”
The concert will feature music from almost every facet of musical styles possible, including traditional Renaissance, Baroque and Traditional American and Mexican songs. Kevin states, “I really consider this group of students some of the finest guitarists in Parker County.” He also goes on to say “for those who have not seen the Bella Corda Group perform, they are a special treat and present a memorable concert.”
Tickets are tax deductible. To purchase tickets call 817-596-7333 or purchase them at the door. Additional donations can be made at the concert or online at www.cafnt.org. For more information about the concert or Childbloom call 817-596-7333 or visit www.childbloom.com.
