Watenpaugh receives Dean's Honors
Submitted by Christine Hurd on Tue, 07/13/2010 - 09:20Kendra Watenpaugh of Aledo was named to the Dean's Honors List for the spring semester at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire. Watenpaugh, a sophomore majoring in fine arts and education, earned Dean's Honors List status by maintaining a term grade point average of at least 3.65 on a scale of four. Watenpaugh is a 2009 graduate of Aledo High School.
King receives degree from Dallas Baptist University
Submitted by Christine Hurd on Mon, 06/14/2010 - 09:36Joshua Daniel King of Dallas, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Studies degree was among the 659 graduates receiving undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees from DBU at spring commencement.
King was one of 400 students to receive a bachelor's degree and played for the men's tennis team.
East Texas Baptist University Announces Spring 2010 Graduates

Anderson Named to Spring's Dean List at Southwestern University
Submitted by Christine Hurd on Thu, 05/20/2010 - 09:48Georgetown (Texas) – Willow Park resident Meagan Anderson has been named to the 2010 Spring Dean’s List at Southwestern University.
To be selected, students must have at least a 3.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale with at least 12 graded hours and be in good standing with the University.
Southwestern University is a selective, nationally recognized undergraduate liberal arts college with an enrollment of 1,300 students. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in Texas. For more information on Southwestern, visit www.southwestern.edu.
Ross wins award in regional concrete canoe competition

Special to The Community News: Casey RossCasey Ross of Willow Park, a junior at The University of Texas at Tyler, was a member of the UT Tyler American Society of Civil Engineering Student Chapter that won several awards during the 2010 ASCE Texas-Mexico Regional Concrete Canoe Competition held in Austin.
With this year’s canoe entry, “The Force,”the 20-member team placed second overall in competition out of 10 teams, besting universities
such as Texas Tech University, Texas A&M University, UT Austin and UT El Paso. UT Tyler received second place in oral presentation, third place in technical design report, third in women’s endurance race, which Ross participated in, and first in the men’s endurance race.
